What is Post Formatter?
Post Formatter is a free browser extension and a set of online tools for adding text formatting to social platforms that only accept plain text. It converts text into Unicode characters that render as bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, and 20+ font styles, so the formatting displays correctly on LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, and Pinterest.
The extension formats text inline as you write, with keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I), a live post preview, Smart Paste from Google Docs / Word / Notion, draft management with folders and tags, a character counter, and optional AI proofreading and auto-styling (using your own OpenRouter API key).
It also includes standalone web tools: a text formatter, font generator, character counter, carousel maker, banner maker, and video downloader.
No sign-up or account is required, and there are no paid tiers.
