PhotoView is a full-screen viewer for the photos, Live Photos and videos in your photo library, with their metadata one tap or click away. Camera, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, location and IPTC appear in an overlay you can dismiss with a single tap. You choose which fields appear, how large the overlay is and which corner it sits in.
On the Mac, PhotoView also opens folders and files from disk, raw files included. They stay where they are; nothing is imported.
What it reads:
• EXIF: make, model, lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length with 35 mm equivalent, exposure program, metering, white balance and flash, decoded into plain language
• Video: duration, codec, frame rate, bit rate, audio codec, sample rate and channels
• Computational capture: HDR gain maps, depth and portrait mattes, spatial and cinematic video, time-lapse, slow motion and Live Photo identifiers
• With PhotoView Pro: IPTC Core and the full IPTC Extension set, GPS with altitude and direction and a link to the map, embedded XMP and .xmp sidecars from Lightroom, Capture One and Photoshop, DNG raw-pipeline tags, and Canon and Nikon maker notes
Viewing:
• Your whole library, your own albums, shared albums and smart albums
• Swipe or use the arrow keys, pinch or press ⌘+ to zoom, multi-select, mark favorites, create albums
• Slideshows with seven transitions, among them Ken Burns, crossfade and push
• AirPlay from iPhone and iPad: the TV shows the photo only, never the metadata
• Built-in help that explains every metadata group and field
PhotoView reads metadata; it does not edit or remove it. Every field is read on the device. Photos are never uploaded, and there is no tracking and no advertising.
