What is PhotoBroom?

PhotoBroom is a photo library management and decluttering app for iPhone and iPad that helps users review large Apple Photos libraries, find duplicate and similar images, and identify photos and videos that may no longer be worth keeping.

The app groups near-identical photos together and uses Apple’s Vision framework to score images, helping users compare similar shots and decide which ones to keep. PhotoBroom does not automatically delete photos based on these scores: users can review the results and make the final choice themselves.

In addition to similar photos, PhotoBroom organizes photo and video clutter into several dedicated categories:

• Similar Photos — groups near-identical shots and highlights the highest-scored image in each group. • Swipe to Clean — lets users review their entire photo library manually by swiping right to keep an item or left to mark it for deletion. The library is organized by month so large collections can be reviewed gradually. • Screenshots — collects screenshots into a single view for faster review. • Low Scored Photos — surfaces photos that receive lower quality scores, such as potentially blurry, poorly framed or accidental shots. • Screen Recordings — gathers screen recordings into one place. • Large Videos — identifies videos above a configurable file-size threshold. • Short Videos — finds videos shorter than a user-defined duration, including accidental short recordings.

PhotoBroom analyzes photos and videos locally on the device. Media is not uploaded to a remote server for analysis, and no account or sign-up is required. The app can also work with limited Photo Library access rather than requiring access to the entire library.

Scanning is incremental. After the initial scan, PhotoBroom processes newly added items instead of rescanning the complete library each time.

Before anything is deleted, users can review the detected items. Deletion uses Apple’s standard system photo confirmation flow, and deleted photos and videos are moved to the Recently Deleted album rather than being immediately and permanently erased.

All cleanup categories, scanning and scan results are available in the free version. Free users can delete a limited number of items each day. PhotoBroom Pro removes the daily deletion limit and includes an automatic processing option for similar-photo groups. Pro is available through subscriptions or a one-time lifetime purchase.

PhotoBroom is available for iPhone and iPad and can also run on Apple silicon Macs through the App Store.
