What is PDF Assist?
PDF Assist is a versatile tool for PDF manipulation, offering a secure redaction feature that completely removes selected content, including common areas like National Insurance Numbers and phone numbers. Unlike other software, this tool ensures that the removed content is not merely hidden, but entirely erased.
The software also comes with an annotation feature that enables text highlighting, underlining, strikethrough, and squiggly markup. It allows users to draw, add notes, and include text and ink signatures. PDF Assist also provides functionality to split or merge PDF files, and to add custom or pre-defined watermarks.
Additionally, PDF Assist includes conversion tools that transform PDFs into Excel, Word, HTML, or Image formats and vice versa. It can also extract text from a PDF and convert scanned PDFs or images into editable text. It offers protection features like encryption and password protection, and allows users to control printing, modification, and text extraction permissions. The software also lets users create a PDF portfolio with multiple file formats, and includes tools for document information, file corruption checks, and PDF file compression.
The software settings can be customized, allowing users to choose the starting mode and enable/disable automatic marking for redaction. All documents modified by the tool will include author information for auditing purposes. PDF Assist can install updates automatically without requiring admin rights, making it suitable for enterprise environments. Automatic updating can also be disabled if used in a virtualized infrastructure.
