You can inspect the code, verify the privacy claims for yourself, self-host the app, or contribute to its development. No black boxes. For an extra layer of security, you can enable end-to-end encryption. Entries are encrypted on your device before being saved, meaning no one — including OwnJournal — can read your journal. OwnJournal is designed to be simple and distraction-free. Write daily entries, reflect on your thoughts, and build a journaling habit without worrying about who has access to your most private writing. Available as a web app and on Android.
