   There’s ease of generation, pipelining etc. It’s /the/ plotting standard, has good configuration, and you can rely on it being installed virtually everywhere. Integrations with many languages and a plethora of other tools are a consequence of these advantages and make for an even greater benefit from using gnuplot.

   Looks pretty similar to Origin, but has less options for analyses comparing to modern Origin versions. Sometimes fails to open .opj files, usually those containing big number of tables and graphs.

   It is a well serviced, continously improved tool. It allows to import a bunch of file types, (e.g. HDF5 support is very good) and is great for easy construction of templates for automatic analysis and visualization of given datasets
