What is OpenMosh?

OpenMosh is a browser-based glitch art studio for images, video and 3D models. Drop in your media, stack premade effects on top until the picture falls apart, and save the result. Files are read straight off your disk into the page, everything renders locally with WebGL2, and your browser writes the export.

It works in three modes. Single takes one image or video and hands you a random stack of effects to tweak, with the option to lock the good ones and re-roll the rest. Editor is a timeline where you lay clips out on media layers, each with its own mosh, and stack effect lanes over the whole frame. 3D models (OBJ, STL, GLB, FBX) go on layers too, and animated ones play their animation. Slideshow detects the BPM of your track and cuts between a pile of images or videos on the beat.

There are 60+ effects, from pixelate and blur through data bend, pixel sort, VHS and channel split to ones that follow motion or the salient part of the frame. A Mask effect limits the effects above it to a shape, a gradient or colors you pick. Add a track and any effect parameter can be wired to a frequency band, so the distortion moves with the music. Everything exports to WebM with audio, and projects save as a .openmosh file that carries the timeline, media pool, song and fonts.
