What is Omitly?

Omitly is a carefully made desktop PDF editor for macOS (Apple silicon and Intel) and Windows. Read, edit, annotate, fill forms, sign, OCR, redact and reorganise pages in one application — then buy it once and keep using it. There is no subscription and no account.

Omitly is a desktop application rather than a cloud service, so working documents stay on your machine: there is no upload step and no content telemetry.

When you redact, Omitly removes the underlying text and image data from the PDF's content streams instead of drawing a shape over it, and scrubs document metadata at the same time. An independent pass then re-checks each redacted region in the output file.

Omitly Pro adds advanced redaction checks and independently verifiable evidence for work where mistakes matter: professional certificates without the personal-use mark, forensic leak checks for hidden text, metadata and prior-revision leftovers, firm-nameable certificates, and PAdES digital signing. Tamper-evident proof that the redacted content is absent from this document — not a determination of legal compliance, and not a claim about your other copies or backups.

A free browser-based redaction leak checker runs at omitly.app with no signup and nothing uploaded, and a free MCP server exposes Omitly's read-only checks to MCP-capable agents, including Claude.
