What is Noject?
Noject is a lightweight macOS menubar utility that prevents accidental ejection of mounted drives on macOS, useful for users with permanently-attached external drives on Mac mini, Mac Studio, or tiny external SSDs on macbooks.
Mark any volume as protected and Noject blocks eject and unmount attempts from Finder, Disk Utility, Terminal and third-party apps. A background agent keeps protection active even when the app is closed, automatically restoring safeguards across reboots, sleep, and reconnects.
Designed for backup drives, media libraries, direct connected storage, and always-plugged SSDs. Noject quietly ensures the drives you depend on stay mounted and available.

How it works: Noject installs a small background helper (via Apple's standard SMAppService) that monitors disk arbitration events. When something tries to eject a protected volume, the helper denies the request and posts a notification so you know what happened.
Limitations: Noject blocks accidental eject requests from Finder and other apps. It cannot prevent forced unmount (e.g., diskutil with force flags) or physical disconnection. It's a guardrail against everyday mistakes, not a security boundary.
