D33pSh33p thinks NVIDIA Broadcast is an alternative to NoiseTorch
- D33pSh33p reviewed NoiseTorchD3After a few hours of researching this came out as my go-to noise reduction program on Linux. It does a fantastic job of removing unwanted background noises. This is what you want for any program using the microphone on Linux (incl. Discord). Versus others: It works with Pipewire (do not use Pulseaudio). It also runs smoothly on KDE Plasma unlike EasyEffects which relies on the framework "libadwaita". Cadmus has not been updated for a while and relies on Pulseaudio (replaced by Pipewire). Real-Time Noise Suppression Plugin seems good, but the configuration is not as straight forward and it is picky on configuration. However, it is, just like NoiseTorch, based on RNNoise and said to be good (I did not test this one). For Fedora 37 there is a maintained version of NoiseTorch on COPR by "Principis". It is what I use. You might read about a security incident where the original github maintainer warned that his machine(s) were compromized. The community audited the code and deemed the code safe. New github was created and new security measures put in place, just to be safe. The COPR maintainer was also aware and did some investigation on his own. So I would not be worried. Bottom line: This program is neat. It is especially neat if you use KDE Plasma. And it is easy to install and set up.
