The graphics are amazing. Gameplay switches smoothly between spaceflight, walking and ground vehicles, and between solo and multi-player scenarios. The story is not so much a story as it is a collection of lore, which you uncover through the main missions and random exploration.
It combines aspects of Minecraft and Wing Commander: Privateer (really old, I know, but I played a LOT of it back in the day) in that they're self-directed sandboxes and you can choose different types of missions...

What is No Man's Sky?
No Man's Sky is a procedurally generated open universe game.
Players take the role of a planetary explorer with a spacecraft, allowing them to explore the surface of numerous planets and interact with the flora and fauna, and take to space, engaging in combat with hostile forces and travel to other worlds. Planets and other features of this universe are procedurally generated.
The game has online features that allow players to share details of planets they have visited with other online players, and allows players to visit these planets through a large galactic map once they have upgraded their ship for hyperdrive capabilities.

It's a pretty awesome game, endless of things todo and the developer has released loads and loads of updates that others would charge a lot of DLC money for.

It combines aspects of Minecraft and Wing Commander: Privateer (really old, I know, but I played a LOT of it back in the day) in that they're self-directed sandboxes and you can choose different types of missions depending on what you feel like that day.
The infinite worlds do eventually start blurring together, and a lot of the gameplay is the same thing you've done before, just dressed up differently and with better equipment or more inventory slots. But it's still fun, and I'm still playing it four years on.
This right here is one of the all time greatest underdog redemption stories of all time.
I really is! I've always believed in them when no one did! I was so obsessed with this game since I saw the trailer in 2013. The 2016 launch was an absolute shitshow and the game was awful (but I still believed in Hello Games). Today, the game is absolutely stunning!
