What is NiceDB?

NiceDB is a desktop database client for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, Oracle, Db2, SAP HANA, Firebird, CockroachDB, SQLite, libSQL, MongoDB, Redis and Valkey, Cassandra and ScyllaDB, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch and OpenSearch, DuckDB and ClickHouse, plus PostgreSQL- and MySQL-compatible services (TimescaleDB, YugabyteDB, Neon, Supabase, TiDB, PlanetScale) and any database with an ODBC driver.

It is built for working on live databases. A connection marked as production is read-only until you unlock it; writing stays open for ten minutes, and each change asks you to type the connection's name. UPDATE and DELETE without WHERE, DROP and TRUNCATE ask before they run, and every write is logged.

Explain draws the query plan, marks where the time goes and names the missing index, for sixteen engines. There is an ER diagram, an activity view with sessions and locks, schema and data compare with a migration script, editing in the grid with a review of the SQL before commit, backups with each engine's own tools, and import and export of CSV, JSON, Excel and Parquet. SSH tunnels with jump hosts, proxies and client certificates are in the connection form.

The interface comes in four styles, each with three palettes in light and dark, and in English and Italian. Profiles stay in a local database and passwords in the system keychain. No account and no telemetry; the app checks for updates once a day, which can be turned off.
