What is Winstep Nexus?
Winstep Nexus Dock is a free docking solution for Windows that provides easy access to frequently used applications. The upgraded version, Nexus Ultimate, can be used independently or as part of Winstep Xtreme. It allows the creation of multiple docks and sub-docks, and the organization of applications into collapsible groups. Dock creation and manipulation is easy, with options for creating docks from existing Shelf tabs, converting docks into sub-docks, duplicating and deleting docks.
Nexus Ultimate also features Shelves/Tabbed Docks and Grid Stacks. Shelves hold shortcuts and display the contents of special shell folders like Desktop, My Computer, Control Panel, Recent Documents, and more. They can also display the contents of hard drive folders and hide desktop icons for a clean, icon-free desktop. Tabs in a Shelf can have keyboard shortcuts for easy access. Grid Stacks allow instant access to the contents of Applications, Documents, Downloads, and any other folders placed into a dock, shelf or drawer, which remain hidden until clicked.

This IS the dock you're looking for! I tested every product I could find on this website and others, and this software is both beautiful and up-to-date in 2019. Buying the Extreme version to support development and enjoy extra features. I wish MSFT would just make this implemented into its OS, but that's unlikely to happen. Glad this software exists! 10/10 for productivity on touchscreen devices.
Eat too much CPU usage, even with empty dock... Look at RocketDock he don't use CPU at all, when idle.
According to AlternativeTo, Winstep Nexus runs on Windows but not macOS. Can anyone recommend a replacement dock for macOS?
Would give 0 stars if possible. I've paid for this program and probably was one of the worst experiences with softwares I've EVER had. I will describe the reasons: 1 - The software provides some pre-defined layouts for the user, yet almost all of them are something you would expect I child to do. Highly saturated colors, horrible color choices, and so on. Had to do my own layout and it was actually pretty difficult and a lot of users won't know how to do it since it requires coding and there are no built-in UI (or similar) to create your own layout 2 - It has a lot of missing customizations, so you will get stuck with some poor design/layout decisions that the developer had made. 3 - The UI is terrible, you will constantly get confused about where are the right tools and which tab you should be looking to change something in the way the program behaves. There are redundant features and some features will be pretty shady on how does it work 4 - Bugs, A LOT of them, you will constantly see the software crashing and freezing even though your CPU is good and some bugs will make the software become a problem to you at the point you will have to close Winstep do what you need to do and just then open the program again (like playing games, closing programs in the system tray and so on). 5 - Worst customer support I've EVER seen in my life. You won't have any feedback in their emails and the forum is just a madhouse where the admins will fight against each other and will outrage against customers that ask for help and bug fix. The Winstep creator is probably the worst professional I've seen in my entire life at the point he won't update the website, won't post in the forum, won't even update his own team about what is happening.
I liked it, and it made my docks looks nice. but I recently uninstalled it because it Eats to much of my CPU and used like 1/4 of my Ram! I game and stream on one pc atm and it definitely was messing with my gaming and stream!
Even with its free features I'm able to forget about windows taskbar and tray.
Best, easy to use yet full featured toolbar/dock for Windows 10
