What is MS-DOS?

The first popular Operating System released by Microsoft. It currently has historical status, but it's pieces are still used in Windows OS and various DOS emulators. *In 2018, Microsoft released the source code for MS-DOS 1.25 and 2.0 on GitHub under MIT license. Users are allowed and fully encouraged to fork the repository containing the MS-DOS source code and make their own modifications, and do whatever they like with it. Officially, other MS-DOS versions are still under prorpietary license due to the third-party licensing restrictions.
