I did both simple and complex videos with it. I combined it with Audacity and a few small video editors. With extra green-screen clips one can make original video effects in it. When simple effects are combined, you also get complex effects, that were not originally in there. The UI is the best in its class of cheaper NLEs. Although, on my PC it crashes with 4+ Gbs files. Also depending on video formats. I have to use Shotcut then. It can digest that.

I really like the editor. Very user-friendly interface, with the latest updates new functions have been added, very convenient tools such as background removal.
I've been using the Mac version for a few days to edit video from various sources. I'm sure Final Cut, Premiere, and others offer more features, but this gets the job done quickly, and without having to read a manual or search for youtube tutorials, so it gets my vote on that score. Rendering was quick too.
It does great job at cutting scenes. I use it to cut scenes that i don't like in videos
