Comment summary: Mouse without Borders is praised for its simplicity, speed, and effectiveness in Windows setups. Users appreciate its ease of installation and Microsoft trustworthiness. It handles keyboard, mouse, and clipboard sharing efficiently and is ideal for setups with up to four computers. However, some users report issues, such as incompatibility with certain devices, latency problems, and a limited feature set compared to alternatives like Synergy. The software is free and generally meets the needs of Windows users.

Absolute garbage. Extremely buggy, never connects. Been broken for years, the devs are just ignoring it. Use literally anything else.

  1. You must have your Home Network set up first.
  2. It's Microsoft.

Latency issues, over and over and over again ShareMouse has NO problems with latency, so why does mouse without borders? This software is trash.

Originally I was looking for the fastest and easiest way to transfer small amounts of data (like clipboard data or a small text file) between computers. Anything was on the table from mapping drives on the network, email, skype (or any specialty software), thumb drive in a handy spot (like in the keyboard). ... and came across Synergy. It sounded totally cool. Plus I have a number of computers around me and saw an immediate benefit to using one keyboard and one mouse to run a whole room. But..... Synergy said they couldn't actually move data between systems yet - it was coming in the next version? Lame. The most popular one here seemed to be Barrier, so i downloaded the executables and installed them on 2 windows systems to try out. It seemed simple and straightforward set one up as a server the other a client. Did't end up so simple for me though. Normally if it would take me all day to figure out - i'd stick with it and troubleshoot. But i'm getting too old for this stuff. And there are so many options. I cut my losses and moved on to Mouse Without Borders. It took longer to download than to install. Seriously in 5 minutes I had all my systems using one mouse, one keyboard, and its so simple to just drag a file from one desktop to another. So for being simple, fast, all I need and more, and the first one I was able to install in a reasonable time. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!

After a slightly awkward set-up, it works amazingly. A small binary (1.3MB). I've wanted something like this for years.

What is Mouse without Borders?

Mouse Without Borders allows you to reach across your PC's as if they were part of one single desktop. Using Mouse Without Borders you can move your mouse between the 3 or more screens, even though one of them is attached to a different PC from the other two. You can also move files between the 2 computers simply by dragging them from one desktop to another. In fact you can control up to four computers from a single mouse and keyboard with no extra hardware needed – it’s all software magic, developed by Truong Do who by day is a developer for Microsoft Dynamics. The software is easy to setup and in addition to enabling drag and drop of files, you can lock or log in to all PCs from one PC, and as a whimsical bonus is it allows you to customize your Windows logo screen with the daily image from Bing or a local collection of pictures.
