What is ModernPAR?

ModernPAR verifies and repairs PAR2 and PAR1 sets, creates new recovery sets, and extracts RAR and zip archives, including multi-volume, password-protected, and self-extracting RAR sets. Drop a .par2 file or its folder on the window and it verifies the set, repairs any damage, then extracts the archive inside. It shows the status of each file and how many more recovery blocks a repair needs.

It runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later. The PAR2 engine is par2cmdline-turbo, and RAR extraction uses RARLAB's UnRAR. It is signed, notarized, and sandboxed, and it updates itself through Sparkle. ModernPAR is free software under GPL-2.0-or-later, with source on GitHub.
