What is MineTwin?

MineTwin is simulation, planning and decision-support software developed specifically for open-pit and underground mining operations. It enables mining companies, engineers and consultants to create realistic digital twins of mines, simulate operational processes and evaluate proposed changes before committing equipment, capital or production resources.

The software combines discrete-event simulation, automated scheduling and optimization to model mine layouts, production targets, equipment fleets, haulage networks, material flows, maintenance schedules and operational constraints. MineTwin can represent drilling, charging, blasting, bolting, loading, hauling, crushing, hoisting, stockpiling, conveyors, rail transport and supporting activities.

Users can test alternative fleet configurations, equipment allocations, production schedules, layouts, infrastructure investments and new technologies without disrupting the real operation. Multiple scenarios can be compared using consistent operational, production and financial indicators.

MineTwin accounts for equipment availability, queues, congestion, changing haul distances, road conditions, maintenance interruptions, variable cycle times and coordination delays. This helps teams identify bottlenecks, determine whether production plans are achievable and understand how decisions in one part of the mine affect the wider operation.

Fleet-sizing and equipment-allocation tools help users evaluate availability, utilization, idle time, delays, operating costs and plan fulfilment. Interactive 2D and 3D views display mine layouts, routes, equipment movement and operational progress. Dashboards, Gantt-style timelines, tables, charts and detailed logs make results transparent and easier to communicate. Results can also be exported to Microsoft Excel.

MineTwin supports spreadsheet-based scenario preparation and common engineering formats, including XLSX, TXT and DXF. Depending on the edition and data type, additional formats such as STR, OBJ and DTM may be used.

Published MineTwin case studies report results including $262 million in fleet-optimization savings across six underground mines, a 7% improvement in projected mine NPV through autonomous-haulage analysis, a 10% improvement in annual planning accuracy and a 90% reduction in production-plan shortfall risk in a coal-mine study.

MineTwin is available for Windows and macOS and operates primarily as a desktop application. Optional server-based simulation is available for larger studies. It is intended for mining companies, mine planners, engineers, operations managers, technical-services teams, simulation specialists and mining consultancies.
