They recently changed their policy to make AI overlook the website and lock accounts. Pretty easy to set off an alarm for your account to be locked. They stopped accepting Paypal and digital banks. The only way to get paid is with real physical bank.
If that's not enough reason to not use it. Understand the hidden agreement between Mercari and their "3rd party" who will asks for very personal information, including drivers license, SSN, passport, etc. They will not unlock your account until you give this "3rd party" your very important information.
Another task besides the identification and bank information is you signing tax papers and agreements. You will have to file taxes if reaching the law's minimum for it. So almost as if you're their employee with the information you give.
Don't use Mercari, the site is no longer a freelance selling. It became another Ebay.
I have bought and sold on here for a long time and until very recently things were OK. The fees are pretty high which means you have to put a pretty high markup which makes it harder to sell things but my most recent purchase, they closed my sale out prematurely, hours, after I received the item, actually, and without paying permission and wouldn’t let me leave a rating, and I had to pay for the item. Turns out the item is broken and I got left holding the bag and they won’t take responsibility for it. This is happened in the past and in the past they’ve done things to make up for it but this time it seems like they are going to play hardball and try and stick it to me. Somebody who has been buying and selling on here for years and made them a lot of money.
Mercari only US, and Japan marketplace does not allow for another country to sell, its owners in Japan, anyone can sell on the website or the Apple Store App as well. users aren't much and they take a percentage on each sale around %20 of the sale price.
great site to buy but they blocked me for reason unknown as well as a friend who opened an account on my pc, I was blocked 3 times in 1 week, first two their fault last time don't know sales canceled won't remove credit card same thing to another friend, So use at your own risk I bought 6 pages of cloths and friend bought 4 won't remove their credit card, No contact no cust service, Sellers were nice buy and then they get stuck as well, im having to deactivate my cc to get it off site, Friend is doiong the same this a scam when they block you won't remove your card and give you no reason, I loved the shopping the few things I got were great 2 parcels missing still had to pay, Lots of fakes like LV burberry and LOTS of coach be careful dont ask if real you will get blocked, I reported items that were fakes clearly see they are not name brand I get blocked, So be careful,
