What is MAX Messages?

MAX Messages archives iMessage and SMS conversations from the macOS Messages app into a separate local archive on your Mac. It is built for preserving important conversations outside the live Messages app, so they remain searchable, exportable, and under your control.

The app is read-only: it does not send, delete, sync, or modify messages. MAX Messages is useful for keeping long-term records of family conversations, sentimental chats, business exchanges, legal communication, or years of message history that should not remain trapped inside Messages.

Features:

  • Archive iMessage and SMS conversations from your Mac
  • Save messages in a local searchable archive
  • Export conversations to PDF or HTML
  • Include photos and attachments where available
  • Browse archived conversations by contact
  • Search old messages outside the Messages app
  • Read-only access; does not send, delete, or modify messages
  • Local-first design with no cloud upload
