MakeLesson

MakeLesson is an interactive exercise and assignment platform for tutors and teachers. It targets the two parts of teaching that consume the most time outside the lesson itself: preparing material and marking it afterwards.

Preparation. Start from a topic you type, pasted text, a photo of a textbook page, a scan, or a PDF. MakeLesson drafts a complete interactive lesson in about 30 seconds from material you already have, instead of building activities from a blank page. From there, editing is conversational: you say what you want changed — make the second exercise harder, add two more questions, turn this into a crossword, take it down to A2 — and the lesson updates. Nothing is assembled by hand. Manual editing is there for small tweaks, and it is unlimited and free on every plan. Share the result as a link, embed it on a Miro board, or export it to PDF for print.

Marking. Objective answers are graded the moment a student submits, so you open the list already knowing who struggled and where. Open-ended answers stay yours to judge, and an optional automatic first pass can prepare a suggested rating and flag answers worth a second look, so you confirm a draft instead of starting from nothing. You mark, comment on individual answers, set a rating, and finalize. Nothing reaches the student until you do.

One link covers assignment and return, so there is nothing to collect or chase. Students open it on any device with nothing to install. No account is required — they can complete and submit as a guest — and students who create a free account get a dashboard keeping their lessons and feedback together across devices. Exercises are built for phones first, since that is where most homework gets done.

Ten exercise types: fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, dropdown select, matching, drag-and-drop, unscramble, crossword, listening, multi-speaker dialogue, and open writing. Every one is auto-graded, built for touch, and collected in the same review dashboard. Listening and dialogue use built-in text-to-speech with a separate voice per speaker, and images can be generated too.

MakeLesson covers similar ground to Wordwall, Liveworksheets, BookWidgets, Quizizz, H5P and Google Forms, with one structural difference: it is not built on a template library. There is no fixed catalogue of layouts and nothing to lay out by hand. You describe what you want — the exercises, the structure, the styling, the illustrations — and it is generated in seconds, then changed the same way. Ask for a different layout, colour scheme, or an image beside a reading passage, and it gets built rather than picked from a list.
