What is Litmus Speed Test?

Litmus is a precision network throughput testing tool for measuring bandwidth, latency, jitter, packet loss, and data integrity between two machines. It runs as a client-server pair: start a server on one end, connect from the other, and get a complete picture of your network's real-world performance.

Protocols & Directions Test over TCP, UDP, or both in a single session. Run upload, download, or bidirectional tests with up to 8 parallel streams and independent per-stream tracking.

Network Quality Score Every test receives an A through F letter grade based on five weighted metrics: bandwidth stability, latency, jitter, packet loss, and data integrity. All thresholds are configurable.

Certification Mode One-click test suite that runs all six protocol/direction combinations in sequence and compiles results into a single certification PDF with per-test grades and an overall pass/fail determination.

Advanced Controls Bandwidth shaping, DSCP/QoS marking, custom socket buffer sizes, warmup omission, configurable UDP packet sizes, ramp-up pacing, multiple termination modes (duration, bytes, or packets), interface binding, auto MTU detection, and nine data patterns including random, alternating bit, and microwave stress.

Real-Time Visualization Live throughput chart with five display styles (area, line, bar, step, gauge) showing up to four test runs simultaneously.

Reports & Export Automatic PDF report generation in light and dark mode. Export results as JSON or CSV for further analysis.

Peer Discovery & Chat Built-in multicast discovery finds other Litmus instances on the LAN. Includes a chat system with display names, emoji, and cross-subnet bridging.

Platforms Windows desktop app (self-contained .exe, no runtime required) and Linux terminal application with interactive TUI, headless mode, and JSON output for scripting.
