What is Lex Cloak?

Lex Cloak is a desktop app for redacting PDFs on Mac and Windows. Documents are processed on the computer and are not uploaded.

It scans a PDF, including scanned pages through OCR, for personal details such as names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers and account numbers. It also flags text a page does not show, such as white text or words under a black box. You review the matches and choose what to remove, and the redacted copy has the covered text taken out of the file rather than hidden.

Profiles for medical records, legal and court filings, public records, school records and forensic reports change what it looks for.

Scanning is free, and so are the first three redacted documents. After that it is a paid subscription.
