What is Kompass for Kubernetes?

Kompass is a free and open-source Kubernetes desktop app for macOS, built in Rust with Dioxus. It is a lightweight, native alternative to Lens, Aptakube and other Kubernetes IDEs, and it stays responsive on clusters of any size. All cluster I/O runs on a background runtime, so the interface never waits on the network, even while reconnecting.

Browse every built-in resource kind and every CRD, grouped in a categorized sidebar, with live watches and virtualized tables. Pods show live CPU and memory with sparklines, along with per-container status. The detail panel has Summary, an editable YAML view with search, Logs, Events, and an interactive Exec terminal. Logs support follow, wrap, include/exclude filters, ANSI colors and merged multi-pod streams.

You can delete, restart rollouts, scale, cordon and drain nodes, and port-forward. A command palette (⌘K) jumps to any kind, cluster or resource. Kompass works across multiple clusters, keeps per-cluster namespace views, falls back gracefully to namespace-scoped access, and refreshes expired credentials such as EKS tokens automatically.

The app is signed and notarized, updates itself in place, and comes in dark and light themes.
