A solid alternative to Kindle, from the eBook selection through apps and hardware. Books are in standard ePub format.
The app works well even on my eink tablet without too much tweaking, though it still wants to sell me more books before I can open the one I want to read.
The Clara is the best single-store eReader device I've used, supports Pocket and Libby/Overdrive out of the box, and makes it a lot easier to sideload books from other sources than Kindle does.

Kobo Books is an application with a large library of eBooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, and children's books, accessible on smartphones or tablets. It offers customizable reading options, including text size and style adjustments, Night Mode, and screen locking in portrait or landscape mode. The integrated audiobook player displays remaining time and can be scheduled to turn off. Users can sample free eBook previews or audiobook samples. The app supports cross-device reading and social media sharing of quotes, notes, or thoughts. It allows users to rate and review books and supports multiple languages. It also supports CarPlay for audiobooks, but books must be downloaded before connecting to CarPlay.
