What is KiwiDesk?

KiwiDesk is a tiling window manager for macOS, built as a normal Mac app rather than a terminal tool. It arranges your windows for you and stays out of the way.

  • A native Settings app with sliders, pickers and a live preview — no config files needed. Lua, a CLI and a JSON event stream are there underneath for anyone who wants to script it.
  • Seven layouts, each fully configurable: BSP, master & stack, PaperWM-style scrolling, grid, resizable tracks, in-place monocle, and floating.
  • Mouse users are first-class: clickable Space Bar and App Bar overlays; drag a window onto a space in the bar to move it there.
  • Needs only the Accessibility permission. It never asks you to disable SIP and never requests Input Monitoring. Works whether "Displays have separate Spaces" is on or off.
  • Native Swift, spring animations at 60/120 Hz, updates arrive inside the app.
  • Free and MIT-licensed. macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon.
