It is kept up to date with upstream, adding a few additional features such as gaps between windows' and is a Window Manager in the os & utilities category. There are more than 50 alternatives to i3-gaps for a variety of platforms, including Linux, Wayland, BSD, Mac and FreeBSD apps. The best i3-gaps alternative is Hyprland, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like i3-gaps are niri, Sway, i3 and awesome.
