What is hushvert?
hushvert converts files with a privacy-first split. Everything a browser can convert (images, HEIC, audio, archives, PDF page operations) runs entirely on your device via WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your computer. The claim is verifiable: open the network tab, or disconnect from the internet mid-conversion, and it still works. Only formats a browser genuinely cannot handle (office documents to PDF, PDF to Word, PDF to Markdown, large video) use an optional server lane, where inputs are deleted the moment the conversion finishes and outputs auto-delete within about an hour. The browser conversion engine is MIT open source. There is also a developer API and an MCP server so AI agents and coding assistants can convert files directly. No account is needed for on-device conversions.
