The good: It's really cool to see an open source model that can analyze pictures. It even gives this functionality to devices that can't run Apple Intelligence. I also like how everything is done on-device and how the app allows you to ask the LLM about the pictures. The not-so-good: The model is slow, and doesn't work well for any tasks beyond just describing basic details from pictures. Often, it gets items wrong when specifically asked to draw conclusions from the picture. It's definitely not on the same level as Gemini's visual intelligence. Overall, it's really cool to see what open source models can do - entirely on-device! Hopefully, the app will get better and more useful overtime. One star for features, two stars for the concept and open source.
