What is HomeNet Local Media Server?

HomeNet Local Area Network Media Server - lightweight alternative to Plex - ( HTML5 + Chromecast support )

A relatively simple, minimalist, lightweight media center for your own Windows Local Area Network (LAN). Homenet is an alternative to more complex, resource-hungry UPnP / DLNA Media Servers like Plex.

HomeNet LMS has been updated to use the VLC "transcode anything" plugin so that almost any media file or radio/video stream can be played in your web browser. There are no thumbnails, categories, indexing or other distractions. Local media files are shown using efficient nested text-based directory listings (try online demo).

To make it all work, you download a ZIP setup file which extracts a single \homenet directory to be placed at the same level as or higher than the location of your media files. The directory contains the Civetweb Server, PHP software, and Homenet web files. To start the web server, just click on civetweb64.exe or civetweb32.exe
