HALM is an independent needle-in-a-haystack game that runs right in the browser. A giant haystack holds 20 million straws and 5 hidden needles. You start with your bare hands, grab straw by straw and sell the hay at the hopper. The money goes into a bigger grip, a basket, a pitchfork, a hay vacuum and a front loader, then into farmhands, drones, conveyor belts, balers, generators and solar panels, until the farm searches the pile for you. A metal detector, a direction finder, a depth gauge and X-ray glasses help you track down every needle. When the last one is found, a new haystack is hidden and you chase your best time.
Platforms: any modern browser on macOS, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. No download, no install, no account needed. Works on integrated graphics.
Price: free demo with 20 minutes of the full game and no sign-up. Full version is a one-time 2.90 USD with no subscription and no ads. Demo progress carries over.
Modes: single-player main game, plus a race mode where up to 6 players dig in the same small haystack for one needle.
Languages: English and German.
HALM is made in Switzerland and is not affiliated with the Steam game Find The Needle. Unlike that game, which is Windows-only and requires a dedicated graphics card, HALM runs on Mac and in any browser.
