What is Fluid Network Studio?
Fluid Network Studio is a browser-based pipe network solver for engineers who need hydraulic calculations without a five-figure desktop licence or a long learning curve. You draw a network in a browser tab and compute flows, pressures, velocities and temperatures across four solve modes: liquid, liquid with heat transfer, gas, and gas with heat transfer, either at steady state or over time with tanks, valve schedules and pump control.
It uses the global gradient (Todini-Pilati) method with Darcy-Weisbach friction, and models pumps, fans, compressors and control valves (check, PRV, PSV, FCV). It imports and exports EPANET .inp files, and exports a STAR-CCM+ macro for 1D/3D CFD coupling.
Every build re-runs 31 public verification cases. Closed-form and EPANET comparisons agree to within 0.32%, and the independent NASA GFSSP examples and published-element references to within 2.61%. Conservation residuals are reported on every solve, and the methods are named openly rather than hidden.
The free tier covers water and liquids up to 100 elements, with nine standalone engineering calculators that need no sign-in. Advanced adds gas, heat transfer, non-Newtonian flow, CFD export and result exports. Australian owned and developed. Nothing to install.
