What is Gran Turismo?
The first installment of the Gran Turismo series of games. Released on December 22, 1997, it featured quality gameplay and graphics tuned toward a realistic driving experience with 180 different vehicles and 11 race courses. It was developed by Polyphony Digital Inc. and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment America who released it exclusively for Sony's PlayStation® system console.
Game modes include arcade and simulation. Arcade allows single- or multi-player. But due to lack of networking support on the platform multi-player is limited to a single console. In simulation mode players can progress through a series of events and earn credits to buy and upgrade vehicles for the garage.
