Developed by a friendly Aussie to fit his own needs, he has kindly shared it with the world by open-sourcing it.

It does NOT support anything apart from text, though. It's just a 'jotter' to jot down "thoughts" as per the author. So don't expect anything fancy.

Props to the dev to offer it through the proper repositories, too. So you can just install it from the software center of your particular Linux distribution.

What is gjots2?

gjots2 is a simple jotter application for your desktop - an outline processor.

You can use gjots2(1) to organise your jottings into a tree structure, adding thoughts and miscellany as you go. You can get it to spit out HTML, XML, postscript, pdf, man etc etc
