GDI Alternatives

    GDI is described as '++.dll is a replacement for the Windows default font rasterizer, which gives you a better font-smoothing capability, just like Mac OS X'. There are seven alternatives to GDI for a variety of platforms, including Windows, Linux, Mac, Haiku and Online / Web-based. The best alternative is OpenGL, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like GDI are WebGL (Free, Open Source), SDL (Free, Open Source), Microsoft DirectX (Free) and CrossBrowdy (Free, Open Source).
