What is freshdock?
freshdock is a Docker container auto-updater and a successor to the now-archived Watchtower. It watches running containers, detects when a newer image is published, and updates them safely: an update only counts once the new container's healthcheck passes, and a broken update is automatically rolled back to the previous container with a notification.
Updates are opt-in per container via Docker labels, with per-container modes (live, nightly, weekly, monthly, watch-only, off) and cron overrides. It supports Docker Hub, GHCR, Quay, lscr.io, and generic OCI bearer-token registries, plus Discord, Telegram, SMTP, and webhook notifications, and optional cleanup of superseded images. Ships as a single static binary with no runtime dependencies.
