What is Folio Studio?

Folio Studio is a web-based book layout tool for independent authors and self-publishers. Start from scratch with a blank book structure, or import an existing manuscript in Markdown, DOCX, ODT or PDF, then export a professionally formatted book ready for ebook stores or print, no desktop publishing software required.

Write and edit your chapters directly in the built-in editor, or bring in a draft you already have. Folio Studio handles the typesetting work for you: 15 typographic templates covering novels, essays, memoirs and illustrated books, automatic chapter ordering (front matter, body, back matter), running headers and footers, drop caps, ornaments and print-ready margins.

Export to EPUB on every plan, plus print-ready PDF and DOCX on Pro. A live preview shows your book exactly as it will look before you export, cover and back cover included.

Pro plans add an AI cover generator, AI chapter analysis, and support for illustrated books of up to 100 image pages.

Folio Studio is bilingual (English and French) and runs entirely in the browser, with nothing to install.
