What is Flux Download Manager?

Flux is a free, open-source download manager for Windows x64 that brings HTTP/HTTPS files, accessible video and audio, and BitTorrent into one desktop queue. It is developed by Hactor00 and distributed with an MIT license for its own source code. No Flux account or subscription is required.

File downloads • Automatic connection selection or 1–32 connections per HTTP task. • Pause and resume with persistent checkpoints and SHA-256 verification. • Direct positional writes to sparse staging files, without a separate chunk-concatenation pass. • Bounded retries, stalled-connection recovery and compatible expired-link renewal. • Queue priorities, scheduling, global/per-task bandwidth limits and batches of up to 500 URLs.

Browser, video and audio • Chromium and Firefox extensions detect supported file links and media through page and network observation. • A movable floating media button offers available quality and output choices, then opens a separate desktop approval window for the filename and destination. • Supported HLS/DASH sources, MP4/MKV video, MP3 conversion and lossless MKA audio extraction. • Separate video/audio muxing, subtitle embedding or SRT export, chapters and audio normalization. • Supported playlists, channel feeds and page-link batches. Media size and remaining time can be shown as estimates when source metadata permits.

Torrents • Embedded BitTorrent engines for v1, v2 and hybrid torrents, magnet links and .torrent imports. • DHT, trackers, PEX, local peer discovery, file selection and piece verification. • Peer and bandwidth limits, with persistent ratio/time-based seeding controls.

Desktop and privacy • Searchable, sortable download history with creation, start and completion times. • Separate approval, progress and Settings windows; optional category folders, clipboard monitoring and completion actions. • 20 interface languages, automatic system/browser language selection, English fallback and Arabic/Urdu right-to-left layouts. • Startup/manual update checks with user approval and cryptographic update verification. • Local task history and preferences, without an analytics endpoint or a remote Flux account. Optional Real-Debrid, AllDebrid and Premiumize integrations use the user’s own accounts.

Flux uses Rust, Tauri, Tokio, SQLite, yt-dlp and FFmpeg. Windows installer and portable packages are available. Browser extensions must be installed separately and connected to the local desktop bridge.

Media access depends on the source and legitimate session permissions. Flux does not bypass DRM, CAPTCHA or provider login challenges. Current Firefox ZIP packages need Mozilla signing for permanent installation; Windows publisher signing is separate from updater verification.

Supported interface languages: English, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, French, Bengali, Portuguese, Russian, Urdu, Indonesian, German, Japanese, Nigerian Pidgin, Marathi, Telugu, Turkish, Tamil, Yue Chinese and Vietnamese.
