FluentVoice Pro is a free, open-source text-to-speech app for Windows 11 and 10 that runs in the system tray. Select or copy text in any app and press a global hotkey (default Ctrl+Shift+Space), click the tray icon, or turn on Auto-Read on Copy to hear it read aloud.
It offers three kinds of voices: 80 natural Microsoft online voices in 22 languages, offline HD voices that run entirely on your PC (Piper and Kokoro: 57 voices in 16 languages, downloaded on demand from the official sources and SHA-256 verified, each with its licence shown), and the built-in Windows SAPI5 and OneCore voices. An Offline-only privacy mode makes sure text is never sent online, and if the online voice is unreachable, reading continues with an offline voice of the same language. Text that looks like a password or API key is never read aloud.
Other features: a Direct Text Reader window for pasting and reading long texts, automatic language detection with a preferred voice per language, adjustable speed, pitch and volume, single-stream playback so voices never overlap, a PDF/OCR text cleaner, Windows notifications, Start with Windows, and a built-in update checker that verifies downloads. Available as a source ZIP with an installer, a portable EXE (no Python needed), or via Scoop.
