What is FizziQ?

FizziQ turns your iPhone or iPad into a complete physics and science lab: sensor measurements, video motion analysis, data analysis and an experiment notebook, with no account and no ads.

Use more than 50 scientific instruments based on your device's built-in sensors, camera and microphone, or connect external sensors. Designed with science teachers, FizziQ lets students measure physical phenomena, collect data, analyze results and write up their investigations directly on their device, from middle school to university.

MEASURE WITH YOUR PHONE OR TABLET

• Acceleration, motion and free fall (accelerometer) • Rotation and orientation (gyroscope, inclinometer) • Magnetic field and compass (magnetometer) • Air pressure and altitude (barometer) • GPS position, speed and altitude • Light intensity and color (lux meter, colorimeter) • Sound level in decibels, frequency, audio spectrum, oscillograms • Time and events with acoustic, optical and motion timers

External sensors can be connected too: FizziQ Connect, Arduino and micro:bit for temperature, CO2, humidity, force and more.

CLASSIC EXPERIMENTS, READY TO RUN

Speed of sound , Doppler effect, pendulum period, spring constant, free fall and g, centripetal acceleration, resonance in a tube, beats, inverse square law of light, magnetic field of a coil, pressure in an elevator, heart rate with the camera. More than 100 classroom-tested activities with protocol and expected results.

MEASURE UP TO 4 VARIABLES AT ONCE

With Multi mode, FizziQ displays and records up to four instruments simultaneously on the same time base, to study relationships between motion, rotation, pressure, light and sound during one experiment.

VIDEO MOTION ANALYSIS AND STROBE IMAGES

Track an object frame by frame in a video and study its position, trajectory, velocity and acceleration. Turn a video into a strobe image (chronophotograph) showing the successive positions of a moving object.

ANALYZE EXPERIMENTAL DATA

Create spreadsheets, enter or import data tables, and use formulas to calculate new variables. Plot time series and XY graphs; use zoom, statistics, histograms and curve comparison. Measurements, tables and graphs are stored locally and can be exported as images, PDF or CSV for Excel or any spreadsheet.

SCIENCE ACTIVITIES AND QR CODES

Teachers write a protocol once and share it as a QR code. No account is needed for teachers or students.

FIZZIQ + FIZZIQ WEB

FizziQ on phones and tablets works together with FizziQ Web on computers and Chromebooks, which adds kinematics, audio tools, data acquisition and physics simulations in the browser.

FREE AND DESIGNED FOR EDUCATION

FizziQ is free, contains no advertising, collects no personal data and requires no account. It is developed by FizziQ Labs in partnership with the La main à la pâte Foundation for physics experiments, STEM activities, laboratory work and inquiry-based science education, and is available in 15 languages.
