Though certainly made more accessible than its Nintendo console and handheld counterparts, Fire Emblem Heroes is an excellent introduction to the gameplay and atmosphere of the modern Fire Emblem series.

What is Fire Emblem?

"Fire Emblem" is now synonymous with Simulation RPGs. The opening of the first game, "Fire Emblem: The Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light", begins with the following characteristics.

Simulation RPG: A simulation game where you develop characters and progress through the story. It a nutshell, it's like a role-playing game. However, by making units as unique characters who were merely disposable pieces in previous simulation games, "Fire Emblem" created a new kind of fun that doesn't end up as just another Simulation RPG.

  • The joy of characters who were initially weak, but gradually grow stronger as they engage in combat.
  • Even when they are critically wounded, they reassure to help them save themselves from their predicament every time.
  • The joy when an enemy becomes an ally by outside persuasion.

All of the above are the result of empathy that can only be achieved through "units" as "characters", which brought new strategic features unavailable in other simulation games, e.g. "How can I complete the unit without losing it?" and "How can I develop more units?"

Characters who have been loved by players in this highly strategic Simulation RPG were beautifully sublimated by a grand story set in a medieval fantasy world, depicting fierce battles, which captivate many players.

The story of the Fire Emblem series, as the game's first entry suggest, is a story of the "Dragon", the "Sword", and the "Fire Emblem" itself. Each entry has a different story, setting, and game system which will not only keep veterans from getting tired but is also newcomer-friendly. However, the phrase where "Fire Emblem" originates will never change.

The above is a testament to the fact that "Fire Emblem" has been supported by many players' love and new strategic adventure aspects, which will continue to be loved by many players as adventure simulation.
