It keeps the behaviour of the file untouched but with its size reduced thanks to several recompression and optimization techniques.

Comments and Reviews
I agree with the positive reviews. Seriously, this is a great, "no brainer" optimizer that works substantively much better than alternatives I've tried (mostly for PDFs).
As for the ads: they're totally unobtrusive, and I'm usually doing something else as I'm batch compressing files, anyway--and can be turned off. If you don't want to use a free software that doesn't even force you to watch ads (AGAIN: you can turn them off), then just pay for something. I'm more than happy to do whatever I can to support this developer. He's put together a bunch of freeware tools in a great "swiss army knife" and I really appreciate it!
Yes, this app have a lot binaries from other sources that can do wonders, but you can't do much with this GUI App, you have very short control in the settings, for example when optimizing PNGs you can't even decide which tools you want to use, or the settings for those tools. In the end, you won't have a very good result and it will take forever to finish a simple one file optimization.
Works well as a GUI for GhostScript. The settings let you change the parameters and its free batch compress for pdf and other files.
Outstanding program that I've run for years, especially on JPEG and PDF files where 20% less data might mean it doesn't get blocked by the recipients' email service attachment limit. Or a file you expect to get downloaded 10,000x doesn't take up near as much space.
For PNG files, I actually disable the included "Leanify" component (just delete it). It takes too long otherwise.
Still one of my two favorite compression programs (the other is 7zip).
I just love this one. It helped me compress thousands of files, especially EPUBs and images. It is useful though for way too many things and definitely recommend it as an extra tool to use for that odd moment you want to compress and optimize some of your files (that it supports optimizing that is).
The only program that contains in one place a lot of loseless compressors for various formats.
Too fast and powerfull compared to other desktop softs. Compress pdf 8mb: 11sec (filteoptimizer) vs ~150sec (other free softs). Dpi and layer option like pro app.
