EnsembleWriter is a screenplay editor that runs in your browser. Open the site and start typing. Scene headings, action, character cues, dialogue, parentheticals and transitions format themselves as you write, on a standard Courier page, so what you see is what prints.

Co-writing works like Google Docs, with proper screenplay formatting. Invite a writing partner by email and you'll see each other's cursors and edits live. Share links let you send a read-only copy to anyone, with an optional password.

Your script comes with you. Export to PDF or Fountain, the plain-text format that Final Draft, Highland and most other screenwriting apps can open. Import works from Fountain and from PDF, so you can bring in an existing script and keep going.

Beyond the page:

• A Beat Board for outlining on index cards before or alongside the draft
• A shot list for each project, with camera setups and overhead blocking diagrams, exportable as PDF, CSV or a call sheet
