What is Emmabuntüs?
Emmabuntüs, an all-in-one GNU/Linux distribution
This distribution was designed to facilitate the reconditioning of computers donated to humanitarian associations, in particular to the Emmaüs communities (hence its name) and to promote the discovery of GNU / Linux by beginners, but also to extend the life of the hardware for limit the waste caused by the overconsumption of raw materials. Emmabuntüs is used for the reuse of computers by many associations in France and Africa.
Emmabuntüs and the associative fabric
And especially our collaboration with the Jerry – Do It Together project . Jerry is an open-source computer assembled in a plastic canister with scavenged computer components. It gives new life to computer components that would otherwise go to waste. In 2012, this project chose Emmabuntüs as the favorite distro over the desktop Jerry version. This collaboration was extended with the adoption by the JerryClan Côte d'Ivoire , which developed medical aid services on a Jerry/Emmabuntuus basis.
