What is EmberType?

EmberType is a macOS dictation app that uses OpenAI's Whisper AI to convert speech to text entirely offline. Your voice never leaves your Mac — no cloud processing, no accounts, no data collection. It types directly into any application as you speak, supports multiple Whisper models for speed vs accuracy tradeoffs, and runs natively on Apple Silicon. Features include customizable keyboard shortcuts, audio enhancement modes, contextual awareness, and a built-in custom dictionary. One-time $39 purchase with a 7-day free trial.
