Email Extract from Documents recovers contacts from your own file archives. Point it at a folder — a backup drive, a network share, years of client correspondence — and it reads every file in it and every subfolder, collects the e-mail addresses it finds, and writes them to a single CSV with a Name and an E-mail Address column, sorted and deduplicated.
It is built for old archives rather than for the web. Alongside .eml, PDF and modern Office files it reads the legacy binary formats that most current tools no longer open: Word 97 (.doc) and Excel 97 (.xls). It also reads Illustrator (.ai), EPS and InDesign Markup (.idml) files.
Automated senders are filtered out — noreply, bounce and newsletter addresses, message identifiers and tracking tokens — so the result is a usable address book rather than a raw dump. Real addresses such as webmaster@ or postmaster@ are kept.
Designed for large archives: a clock shows elapsed time, files processed and addresses found; the scan can be paused and resumed; progress is journalled, so a crash or a restart does not cost the run. Measured at 16,491 files in 29 seconds on a local drive.
Runs entirely on your own computer. A single .exe, no installation, no account, and no network connection of any kind — nothing leaves the machine. Documentation included in English, German, French and Spanish.
This is not a web scraper or a lead-generation tool. It reads files you already have.
