What is Digital Public Library of America?
The Digital Public Library of America, aka DPLA, collects metadata, or information on digitized material, from partnering museums, libraries, government institutions, and archives. It aggregates this information and makes it possible to search multiple websites, making it easier to find information on a subject.
DPLA has over 51 million resources, as of this writing. It also has 'exhibitions', or collections on a particular topic with a narrative, primary source sets, which are what they sound like, and topics. They also run a Banned Book Club, the Palace Marketplace (in partnership with the Palace Project), and DPLA Publications, which makes accessible in ebook form government documents, court cases, and investigations.
