dhcpcd Alternatives

dhcpcd is described as 'implementation of the DHCP client specified in RFC2131. It strives to be a fully featured, yet very lightweight DHCP client'. There are three alternatives to dhcpcd for Linux, BSD, Mac, Self-Hosted solutions and Windows. The best alternative is BIND, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like dhcpcd are MaraDNS (Free, Open Source) and dnsmasq (Free, Open Source).

MaraDNS implements the Domain Name System (DNS), an essential internet service. MaraDNS is open source software: This means that anyone is free to download, use, and modify the program free of charge, as per its license.

    2. Dnsmasq is a lightweight, easy to configure DNS forwarder and DHCP server. It is designed to provide DNS and, optionally, DHCP, to a small network. It can serve the names of local machines which are not in the global DNS.
