DetoxDroid

DetoxDroid is an application designed for Android devices, which deviates from the norm of conventional "Digital Detoxing" apps. Instead of enforcing a timed contract for phone usage or setting limits on specific app usage often backed by monetary penalties, DetoxDroid takes a unique approach. This application aims to empower the user to control their phone usage, rather than the device dictating the user's behavior.

DetoxDroid strips away the attention-seeking and manipulative attributes commonly found in other apps. There is no requirement for users to select a specific time or location to initiate a "detox" period, and there are no penalties for not adhering to self-imposed restrictions. The application's main goal is to facilitate healthier phone usage by allowing the user to control their device rather than the other way around.

DetoxDroid is equipped with several features designed to aid in this process. The Grayscale feature removes positive reinforcements, which can help reduce compulsive smartphone use. Users can also exclude certain apps, such as their camera or gallery, from the grayscale feature. An Automatic Do Not Disturb feature ensures users won't forget to activate this mode, and the Opt-out > Opt-in feature allows users to intentionally pause DetoxDroid, rather than needing to deliberately activate it.
