What is Default Tamer?

Default Tamer is a macOS menu-bar app that becomes your default browser “interceptor”. Once set as the default web browser, it receives every link first, checks your routing rules, and then opens the link in the right browser automatically.

It’s built for people who keep separate browser identities for work / personal / freelance contexts and don’t want accounts/history/settings mixing just because macOS has a single default browser.

How it works (high level)

  • You set Default Tamer as the default browser in macOS settings.
  • When any app opens a link, macOS sends it to Default Tamer.
  • Default Tamer matches the link against your rules (source app / domain / URL pattern) and routes it to the selected browser.
  • If nothing matches, it opens in your fallback browser.
  • At any time, you can hold ? Option while clicking a link to manually choose a browser.
